Welcome to Fintech and Friends!Â
If you’re reading this I assume that you are either directly involved in fintech (founders, VCs, executives) or you’re a friend of the space (reporters, investors, marketing people).
In my 15 years of doing copy, content, influencer marketing, and public relations, fintech has always been the space I gravitated to more than any other tech niche — at any stage of business.Â
Maybe it’s because as a woman, I’ve always been keenly aware that whoever holds the money, holds the power. But also, it’s so much more than that — whoever makes that money accessible, easier to use, and gets it into the hands of good people, are the folks that make sure that power has a lasting chance of being evenly distributed.Â
(I know we are still working on this part.)
There’s no mistake that how we innovate financial services is directly related to ease, access, and financial equality. And because of this, fintech is so much more than just basic for-profit tech platforms; it is the great equalizer of society.Â
Where you couldn’t get credit before, now you can.Â
Where you didn’t qualify for a business loan, now you do.Â
Where you were not able to make big, necessary purchases (unless you had room on your credit card), now you just split the payment into four with ease.Â
These innovations help all of us live a little better, and carve out (even when it’s complicated and imperfect) our own unique versions of the American Dream.Â
As part of my mission with Fintech and Friends, I want to introduce you to the best innovators in the business; those who are making everyday life better and easier by shaking up every transaction.Â
We’ll highlight fintech leaders, give mad props to new platforms, share PR and marketing tips specifically for fintech companies and thought leaders, and give our opinion on the what’s what and the who’s who in the space.
In the meantime, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a beat.Â
No matter your contribution to the industry, know that fintech has the deepest impact that generations even just 20-30 years ago wouldn’t have been able to fathom.Â
(Just ask your mom about Venmo or Cash App.)
Looking forward to having you follow along as a friend to all things fintech!
Warmly,Â
Jenny Beres
